The area has vegetation graduating from pine, hemlock, fir, juniper, birch, rhododendrons and shrubs to alpine plants and then to bare rock and snow. The area is home to the Himalayan tahr, ghoral, serow and musk deer. Common birds are the impeyan, pheasant, blood pheasant, red-billed cough and the yellow-billed cough. This is the most popular trekking route in Nepal. This is popular with stunning views of Himalayas, diversion cultural people, pilgrimage sites, field terraces, gorges and with different types of flora and faunas. Trek in this region starts either form Besishahar or from Pokhara. This region offers moderate to rigorous treks depending upon the adventurous desire of the trekkers. In this region lies the deepest gorge in the world. The area is dominated by Annapurna I 8091 m the 10th highest in the world, Schema and chestnut trees are found in the subtropical forest between 1000-2000 m which give way to rhododendron flower, oak, hemlock and silver fir as you ascend to the temperate zone (1700 – 3000 m). Rhesus monkeys, yellow-throated martens & Himalayan weasels are some of the wildlife commonly encountered. Gurung, Magar, Thakali & Brahmin villages dot the lower elevations. The Chitwan National Park (CNP) is the first and most famous wildlife destination of Nepal. It is situated at the southern part of Kathmandu at the distance of about 170 KM. It is about 6 hrs bus ride and 15 mins. flight from capital. The total area of this park is measured as 932 sq. KM. The park includes hilly areas of the Siwalik range covered by deciduous sal forest and captured with grass, savannah and riverine vegetation. The park is made up of the flood plains of the Narayani, Rapti and Reu rivers.
In between these landscape and area any one can enjoy the different spices of endangered wildlife such as Asian one horned rhinoceros and Royal Bengal tigers, four different spices of deer, leopards, langurs, sloth bears, wild boars, rhesus monkeys, wild dogs, white stocking gaurs and many other smaller animals. Two different type of crocodiles Ghariyal and marsh mugger cavort in the river water. This park is also famous as bird watchers paradise with more than 450 different spices of regular and migrant birds including cormorants, egrets, stork geese, jingle fowl, king fishers and endangered spices such as Bengal florician, Lesser florician, Brahmin, duck, pintails, Indian pitta and parakeets.

Rivers are graded in a scale of one to five, with one being a swimming pool. Four is considered to be quite challenging without being exceedingly dangerous to the novice rafter. Five requires some previous and challenging experience.
